  • Edward James +3Perfection. Best submission by far imo. I haven't come up for the word for it yet, but this is another entry in my very narrow category "Songs that sound exactly like the thing they are trying to describe". Not only do the lyrics perfectly capture falling in love, but the song sounds exactly like it feels.
  • Regina Scime +2I love this song so much
  • fionmul +1Ugh I’ve been waiting to do this since last time we did this round… well played obviously
  • Sam Ary +1
  • Claire +1Absolutely perfect pick. Was my second choice for this round
  • Joseph Harvey 0I feel like everyone will vote for this so I won’t

  • Edward James +1I have to reward this. First, it's a banger. Second, I like the identification of the small moments as where love is really found. Reminds me of John 1:39 "Come," he replied, "and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon." Why note it was 4 in the afternoon other than because it's a moment so vividly remembered as a the moment your very life was altered by a single encounter? It's so utterly human.
  • Claire +1Hell yeah slaughter beach dog. The way I read this song it’s kind of dream/trance like but I enjoy that as a take on what falling in love feels like

  • Edward James 0So when I converted this to Apple Music, it pulled a teen angst cover of this song, which actually went kind of hard, and I assumed it was Joseph or Claire's submission. Just went back and listened to the original version, which is better for sure, but I kind of like the idea of Joseph identifying the idea of falling in love with hardcore music, like a 16 year old in 2008.
  • Joseph Harvey 0Great song but somehow not perfect for this round
  • Claire 0This is perhaps very picky but the experience this song is describing feels like pre-falling in love

  • fionmul +1Junior year of college Fiona probably listened to this twice a day
  • judd.baker +1Admirably Fionacore and sounds great. This has a different version of the “falling in love” sound but I think it still gets the feeling right

  • Edward James 0Banger. Seems to be about navigating feelings, not surrendering, which seems like a key distinction. Just misses my vote.
  • Claire 0I realize now that this is thematically very similar to I won’t say (I’m in love) which was an excellent pick last time

  • judd.baker +1Five stars. One of the best tracks on a phenomenal album, and this is just what falling in love *sounds* like. It’s not enough for the song to be “about” falling in love, there is a certain cadence that just captures the feeling and the movement of falling in love. This is it
  • Edward James 0Just sublime. This whole album is a masterpiece.

Sam Ary: RIP Glen Hansard

  • fionmul +2AWW
  • Claire +1RIP. This one’s a classic for a reason
  • Edward James 0Went triple platinum at every millennial high school talent show.
  • Regina Scime 0This was sad
  • judd.baker -1See above: the song may be about falling in love but this just isn’t what falling in love *sounds* like to me.

  • Edward James 0I feel like this might have been submitted before? Or I just heard it recently and feel like the only way would have been via ML. Either way, not a fan tbh.
  • Claire 0I considered this last time we did this round. Now it’s a repeat though, alas

  • Joseph Harvey +1Was that a land acknowledgment lol
  • Edward James 0Lyrically I can't really fault this one, but the guy has terminal Gen Z voice and I wasn't a huge fan of the sound
  • fionmul 0Perhaps wedding is too far along for this category

Peter Seeley: Strangely enough, Peter Paul and Mary did a cover of this making it one (briefly) the most known G and S song in America
