  • Peter Seeley +1I was actually touched by the story .
  • shea nowicki +1
  • Edward James 0It's the GOAT - only doesn't get a vote because I want to prioritize songs that we don't all know.
  • fionmul 0I like this song a lot and im not sure what all to vote for but this song is similar to Livin on a Prayer in that it’s not really a story to me it’s just like oh a couple of people have it hard and we wanna get outta here together and we are in love etc
  • Joseph Harvey 0I’m very torn on this one. The narrative is very subtle and sad, it doesn’t hit you over the head with “this happened and then this happened” and leaves you to paint a picture of what is going on in these people’s lives. However, despite some strong melodies and sections, the way these solid pieces are put together dumps the momentum over and over again the way we get FOUR bars of that main guitar part between every verse and chorus. There’s also some awkward phrasing at some points and these fumbles hold the song back from receiving a vote.
  • judd.baker 0upon listening again I was struck by how the verses don’t rhyme, they’re just sort of stream of consciousness. Kind of cool

shea nowicki: "Of all the classes that stand face to face with the bourgeoisie today, the proletariat alone is a really revolutionary class." -Karl Marx, Communist Manifesto

  • judd.baker +1This was my favorite song of the round. The lyrics are pretty overt but they are spot-on without being affiliated with any particular political moment which I think gets at the spirit of the round. Also just such a beautiful song wow
  • Claire +1Tracy is the goat send tweet
  • shea nowicki 0tbh, the Helder Camara quote "when I feed the poor, they call me a saint, but when I ask why the poor are hungry, they call me a communist" lives rent free in my brain and that's why I submitted this song
  • SamRobertsND 0I couldn't tell if this was a man or a woman I was really sure that it was a man but then I googled it
  • Edward James 0This was great, I’ve never heard it! Beat slightly by others.
  • Joseph Harvey 0What’s with that *whisper* thing
  • Sam Ary -1Too many big words in the Marx quote my brain doesn’t know what to do
